Join Pongo, Michael, and Linda as we discuss why antibody testing notoriously gives false negatives and how it does not need to be. If an individual’s immune cells are 1) re-exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 proteins long enough to elicit the response of plasma memory cells becoming antibody secreting cell and then 2) checked to see if those antibodies binding the viral SARS-CoV-2 proteins are capable of preventing the binding to the ACE-2 host proteins. This is a reliable neutralizing antibody test determining if an individual already has immunity and therefore does not require further vaccination.
Morning Soap Box Rant:
Elon Musk, kind of a smart guy, is making headlines this week by co-authoring a scientific publication. Even though he is not an Immunologist, Elon knew a year ago the importance of collecting data on individual antibody concentrations and their role in providing immunity to this pandemic. How is it private citizens like Elon Musk and Dolly Parton need to spend their own money to help end this pandemic when our US tax dollars have supported several entities responsible for preparing our nation for infectious disease outbreaks for years? Those same entities, both civilian and military, have done little more than to tell us to put on a mask, wash our hands, and stay home possibly losing our homes and businesses in the process. Seriously, do they think we are so stupid we actually believe the best modern science can do is to tell us to wash our hands? Our tax dollars have support Multi-Billion Dollar Annual Budgets and yet when we need to collect on our investments for a safe defense against an infectious diseases, bioterrorism threats, or a pandemic these same entities do nothing more than tell us to wash our hands, wear a mask, and stay home. These incredibly powerful, tax dollar supported entities “wash their hands” of the problem along with hundreds of billions of dollars to an industry founded on profiteering off the suffering of others.*
Rubbing salt in this wound they further inundate the American people with propaganda the likes of which has not been seen since 1930s Germany. A fear based propaganda campaign has been launched to silence anyone who dares to question what is going on. If you question the vaccine then you are combatively referred to as an “Anti Vaxxer.” A rude and insulting term! Everyone should always question our healthcare and what we put into our bodies. Blindly believing what those profiteering from this pandemic and their commercials tell us to trust is a mistake for the less educated. I am a scientist, Jonas Salk is a Hero and his polio vaccine was a magnificent achievement. So no, I am NOT an Anti Vaxxer. I am an advocate for utilizing 21st century science, which includes questioning the motivations and safety behind any new pharmaceuticals, chemo agents, or vaccines. Are these pharmaceuticals to increase the health and wellbeing of a society, or are they for increasing the profit margins of an out of control industry? Have our tax funded government agencies and educational systems designed to protect us from such abuses discarded us to line their own pockets?
